I call Champix the Miracle Drug

3 months ago if you asked me "when will you quit smoking, I'd tell you never" I really could not see the end of smoking, I wanted to quit but just could not imagine life without them, how will I fill that void? what would I do with all the extra time ect it had that much of a grip on me & control over me, I was a 2 pack a day smoker. Then I spoke to a relative of mine who was also a smoker & he told me he started champix a couple of weeks back & that I should give it a go. I did know about champix as I had tried it about 4 years ago but decided to stop taking the tablets rather than stop smoking after the cut off period , so thought this drug is not for me. But this time I said to myself, I have nothing to lose from trying again & everything to gain. So I got them 3 months ago exactly as yesterday was my last day of the 3 month cycle. After about day 5 or 6 the smokes started tasting foul, and by about day 10 I had lit up a smoke and had one puff and the taste was like the worst thing ever, so I threw that one out with the rest of the pack and said to myself I don't need this poison anymore. And since then I haven't had one. I have had a few urges and cravings but they last a few sec's only and then there gone. I must admit I have had a few side-effects on Champix such as road rage as well as a few nightmares, but a small price to pay for the massive reward of not being a smelly unhealthy smoker. In these 3 months I have purposely not gone out much where smokers are or had nights out drinking . I really never thought I could come this far. But I have to give about 95% of the credit to Champix, It truly is a Miracle Drug in my eyes & every smoker I see now I tell them about it. Michael

Hooray for you Michael, that's a great story to hear. Seems to have worked well for you. 2 packs a day, you must have been spending a fortune, just think you'll be able to save all that money now, how great is that! Maybe they should make bumper stickers that say: "Warning I'm giving up the smokes", or "Caution ex-smoker on board". Anyway, good on you, keep up the great work!

Good on you Michael, I'm just starting but it is encouraging that you've gone 3 months, well done!
