First week experience

schedule 14 May 2015

My house is going to be REALLY clean by the time I am over this frienemy relationship. I work from home. Rather than going out for a smoke, I channel my nervous energy when I have that desire into picking something to clean. I still take regular breaks, but I will use it to throw in a load of laundry, clean some item, straighten out a kids room, etc. I have been noticing in 4 days that my house is starting to shape up nicely.

I have found that I need some snacks around. I think I will populate my fridge with carrots. I don't terribly like them, but they are better than stuffing my face with chips. I carrot addiction has got to be better than smoking, right?

My sleeping is all messed up lately. I am having trouble going to sleep (usually asleep by 12am) even by like 2am, and Im a little stir-crazy, like I cannot get comfortable, no matter what I do. I have been waking up every couple hours overnight, but I don't seem to be all run-down and tired during the day anyways, so I guess my body only needed all that sleep to try and repair the damage that cigs were doing.

4 days in, cold turkey. Seems manageable. More updates to follow.

Thanks for the inspiration! I am quitting tomorrow.

Good luck jellycake. Just think how much better we will feel when we are done here. I have been a pack-a-day smoker for almost 25 years. This morning I drove my wifes car and didn't get into her cigs in the center console. This would be easier if she would quit too.

Hi BeFree2015, Congratulations in quitting smoking! You're doing great, keep going.... don't forget to exercise, walking, stretching, n plenty of water. You can do it! Keep us posted.

Keep going BeFree, well done. My house was very clean in the first week too, a nice change. I'm sure your sleep patterns will settle down to normal soon, I found reading with a camomile tea really helped put me to sleep. I've read two great books in 4 weeks already instead of wasting time smoking. Good luck, wish you all the best on your journey.
