10 weeks going strong

I was a 15 year smoker. Aged 34 now. Doctor told me my lungs were the same as a 65 yr old but that still wasn't enough to quit. I had tried patches champax etc etc. nothing worked . Until 4 March it was my dads birthday he would have been 74 but died of cancer 12 years ago. He didn't smoke and told me not to when I was young , so I decided to give my dad a present on his birthday and that was to stop smoking. it was about 6 weeks out from the birth on my second child.its been over 10 weeks now and it's been pretty easy going cold turkey I don't even think of it now and actually get grossed out by the smell of it on others now(which is what I would have smelt like). Anyway my belief is you will only quit when you really want to- for me it was 10 weeks ago! I know I will never go back! Good luck to all everyone! If you slip up that's fine - just means you really didn't want to stop! Just try again when ya ready.

What a wonderful gift to give your dad, he would be so happy.
I feel a sense of strength when you say I 'know' I will never go back. There's definately a certain knowing that comes with that true 'want', finally we get to that point where we really want to. It's great to hear & you've gone 10 weeks - truly amazing. Keep up the fabulous work!
