I am on week three of champix and day 2 of no smoking. The craving has almost gone but the side effects have not been good for me. Discussed the mental health effects with my doctor before starting but was not prepared for the intense dreams, sense of disorientation, anxiety and general emotional discord that I have experienced. Have stopped taking the Champix now and going back to the doctor for advice. I would not recommed Champix for anyone who has had a previous episode of any level of mental health needs. I also have had a bad skin reaction as i suffer with psoriasis and it has become quite inflamed. No go for me. Hopefully off the nicotine for good as side effects have not been good for me.

Hi billie, I'm not familiar with Champix, however I have heard from many others that the side effects can be quite unnerving - it's probably the main reason I have never gone that way. I suppose everyone is different and what may not work for one may work for another. It's all a game of trial and error. I've tried many times to quit smoking and cold turkey seems to get the best results. (sometimes with a nicorette spray thrown in just in case) I wish you all the very best on your quit journey and keep on keeping on. The benefits of not smoking are enormous!

Hi Billie, I was on Champix for a month and felt fantastic as i had completely quit..however..everyone else around me wasn't so happy. After I stopped taking it, close friends told me i was highly emotional, anxious and moody. And looking back now i most definitely was but didn't notice it myself! Scary. They are very strong dugs and i would liken them to anti depressants - and anti depressants, if you don't nexessarily need them - can be awful. I stopped taking them and started smoking a few weeks later but omg at least i am sane!

Now trying patches and quit mist :) That nicorette quit mist is a big shock to the system..not such a harmless minty spray, it feels like your throat is going to swell up when you first spray it haha.

Anyways, good luck

Hi choosehealth2015 and myghostgirl. All good with the journey of staying away from smoking. Feeling far less disoriented after stopping the champix but the build up into that strange situation was unnerving.Did not take too long to feel normal again, about 1 day. I spoke to someone later who told me that she knew of two people who were treated in hospital for a Champix induced psychosis. Scary. It is not worth having a serious mental health episode. It seems that cold turkey is the best option if possible. Good news is that it is day 3 of no smoking...without the drug. Good luck to both of you. Keep on keeping on. Remember the power of one!

Hello Billie, Congratulations on your quit! You are doing good. I quit smoking 5 months ago cold turkey, and I feel great. I have no desire in smoking again, I enjoy being a non smoker. Well, good luck! Stay quit. You can do it. I did.
