Side effects? I had them all lol !

I took Champix, starting early November. My doctor told me about the side effects and I had them all, all the time I was on Champix. Nausea, nightmares, depression. The nausea was so bad that I was going to bed early almost every night and felt exhausted every day. However I persisted with Champix for six weeks until I couldn't take the nausea any longer and stopped the tablets.  By that time I wasnt smoking. It's now been a month and I have no interest in cigarettes whatsoever.  I enjoy having more money. I also find that when I walk past a smoker and smell that stale cigarette smell that surrounds them, I'm so glad it isn't me.  I watched a medical program on COPD the other night and saw a woman who couldnt breathe without supplementary oxygen. The noise of her trying to breathe was horrifying. Lungs do not repair once they are damaged. Most of her lung tissue was already dead. Once the medics got her breathing again and out of emergency, the first thing she did was lit a cigarette. It made me sick and sad at the same time.  If you can tolerate Champix, I recommend it.

Hi dragonrose, Well done that's fantastic ! I like you went on Champix for a short time and stopped it 2 weeks after quitting and am now at about 34 days so am really pleased with myself. I don't think I would have got that far without it and believe it did make the quit easier. I have not found my quit very difficult although I did have a stressful situation the other day and my immediate thought was " I want a cigarette " . I questioned myself as to what difference it would make to the situation and came up with the answer of " none" . Was proud that I was able to do that and think that every situation I come across that I get through is a massive step In the right direction. I hardly think about smoking these days and realise for a while I might get caught out occasionally whilst learning to deal with situations without my nicotine monster. All the best and kero up the good work

Thanks FingersX and to you. My only bad experience was day 3 on Champix, snorkelling...then throwing up in the ocean and wondering why i was going thru this. But too far from land to care! Enjoy your freedom from the Nicotene Monster too.
