Staying Quit is the hardest thing

Hello all of us who are trying to kick the vile habit.  I guess I'll have to give myself a different name now as I don't think I could be called "Smelly" anymore..... at least not reeking of cigarette smoke!  I can't remember how long it's been since my last smoke, but I'm heading into my second month of Champix (stopped sucking on smokes before that though) so reckon I'm about 3 months off the cigs.  Still have the occasional desperate craving and have to really give myself a good talking to.... what a waste of all the agony I've already experienced if I just have ONE cigarette..... then I"ll be right back into it at 30-40 a day.  So, the pep talk's usually enough.  If it gets too hard, I chuck a chewy into mouth and acknowledge I have an oral fixation and chew frantically until urge has passed.  I wonder...... does it ever get to be easier?  Seems not an hour goes by that I don't think about cigarettes .  Wow.  What a powerful addiction/drug this is.  Anyhow.... so far so good. Have tried about 100 times before (my mum told me a 1000 times not to exaggerate!) so I'm fixated on the target.... I don't smoke.  Looking forward to getting to the stage of condeming other poor bloody smokers who haven't been able to chuck it and are forced to remove themselves from civilized company to satisfy addiction.  Poor bleeders!  Still smelling like a lady instead of an ashtray.

schedule 10 Dec 2014

HI! Smelly , thanks for your words of wisdom . Yep, I do think you should change your name from smelly to say, SMELLING SWEET. Ya know , after not smoking for a week I can smell my house, it's like a bloody smoky ashtray so starting tomorrow I'm washing every wall in my place and then the curtains. I'll be buggered and badly bent but it'll smell nicer. GOOD LUCK TO US ALL ,BRAVE, NEW NON SMOKERS
