I was hunting through the house for a particular book by Louise Hay.  I couldn't find the one I wanted - "You Can Heal Your Life"  - but I DID find "The Power Within You"  By Louise Hay.  I opened it at random to see if it had the info I was seeking and found instead a method to stop smoking.  Instead of 'giving up' - which psychologically can put many people behind the eight-ball instantly, as no-one really likes the thought of 'giving up' anything - it was 'releasing the need' to smoke.  Every time you light one up, you say "I am willing to release the need to smoke."  Keep doing it and the urge lessens.  What also happened was I found out the reason I had started smoking in the first place - and that's a different reason for all of us!  Once 'the smoke had cleared' so to speak, a lot of buried memories and emotions came up.  I am currently dealing with them with the help of books by Louise Hay and Gill Edwards. I did have a set back two weeks after I started when a very dear close friend died suddenly and I was helping his partner with the funeral, but after the upset had levelled out I began again.  It's quite a journey.  Maybe this is the secret of why smoking makes people sick - it's not so much the smoking, it's the emotional reason for starting it in the first place.  Maybe an urge for a 'smokescreen' or an urge to hide. I have also lost all interest in junk food - and I was the sausage roll quality expert, the potato chip  sandwich kid and the chocolate queen.  Today I've started a wheatgrass de-tox and made a few other changes in my diet - more fresh and organic fruit, grains and herb teas - and am spending a lot of time on line researching healthy foods.  It's all out there.  I hope this helps someone with their journey.  PS:  If you do start a healthy de-tox, there's tonnage of information on-line on what's good.  It needn't be expensive products, there's plenty of home therapies - but stay close to the loo after you've taken it!
