My four weeks of excellence with Champix from a bipolar viewpoint.

schedule 31 Aug 2014

The first time I tried Champix, I did not follow the correct procedure.  That was in 2012.  I tried it again this year in 2014.  My quit date was 30 August 2014.  I kept on smoking right up to that time however, and wondered if I was doing it wrong as I did not seem to be able to give up smoking completely.  I was not on any medication for bipolar at the time, and I did not tell my doctor I had bipolar, since I hadn't taken medication for the last 18 months.

By the fourth week, I felt fantastic, and had managed to almost completely stop smoking, and even the urge to smoke left me.  It also seemed to have lessened my desire for a drink as well, and I only had 3 light beers in the whole of the fourth week.  My full time work was even easier, and I managed to be super organized, and I also became quite vocal in staff meetings, where before I only wished to be transfered somewhere else, so I said nothing, but let the speaker drone on and on ad nauseum.

I was exhausted, but very happy since my goal had been to give up smoking completely, and I knew I was just about there.

I felt like I did when I was 18, able to stick up for myself and others when I needed to.
