Champlix

I've been smoking since Iwas 13, am now 53 ... eeeek. Tried everything over the years, nothing worked for me (Useless on the willpower front). Anyways , went to the doctors and they put me on Champlix. I reduced from 16 a day , day by day until I got to 3 , then spend 3 days getting to 2, 2 getting to 1 and 3 days on 1 before going to 0, 5 days ago. The Champlix is amazing , however, since I've stopped am feeling really nauseous for 1 hour after taking the tablet 1mg, am vague and frankly a bit stupid for the rest of the time, but, not smoking for 5 days , easily the longest smoke free ever. My thinking is, whatever the side effects from this drug, they have to be better than cancer or a heart attack , I guess my reason for writing this is to say to anyone trying to quit , we now have so many great ways to do it, if I can, literally anyone can. Best of luck to all :)

I agree! Most substitutes are better than smoking. It really is one of the worst drugs.
I went cold turkey myself and have 66 days up. My Dr said Champix is a Big NO NO for people like me who suffer with mental illness.
My biggest worry is a stroke. how badly would life suck after one of those if it were severe. I am not going to die addicted in a hospital bed.
I also say, If I can do this then so can you. You really can.

Epsilon - we are there with you, me and my husband. Both smoked for over 40n years and smoke-free now thanks to Champix. Keep going, you are doing brilliantly. The side effects lessen with time, of if they are too much of a problem, once you're smokefree for a few days it's not hard to stop the tablets and keep going on your smoke-free path. Good luck.

Epsilon, congrats on making it this far! I am 49 days smoke free thanks to champix. It definitely helps but for many there are side effects. I too had nausea but by taking the pills with meals, I was able to get over the nausea. After that though I started to get headaches so when I was two weeks smoke free I cut the dose to just one pill a day. I no longer have any side effects and am still smoke free. It may also depend on body size, a few of us had this discussion and agreed that the same dosage for every body weight just doesn't seem right ( not that we are doctors :)) , but I weight about 110 lbs, so I figured that the dose was just too high for me. I would hold out as long as you can on champix because it really does help! I wish you all the best! You can do this!
