Champix - Day 04

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 3 Jul 2014

Please help me?  I am on Day 04 of my Champix Starter Pack.  I have googled Champix from A - Z ALL the symptoms associated to it as well as all the quite stories about it. First of all I started my first Morning pill this morning 0,5 g. I have absolutely NO negative symptoms?! Am I lucky or is the terror still going to hit me?

And then as well after 04 days of Champix I still have to force myself not to smoke I really can’t say if the Champix is working for me?

Is it still early days?

schedule 3 Jul 2014

Hi there, I have taken champix twice in the past and in both occasion I was smoke free for about six months. For my stupidness, I have started smoking again. From my experience, champix will help you. But your will power is the main element. Set a quit date between 10-12th day of your champix, and enjoy all your last cigs until the day. Be strong and don't smoke on the quit day. You can do it.

schedule 3 Jul 2014

Hi Sushanta thanx for your comment. My quit date is set for 22 July 2014 (Day 12 of my Champix).

I think until then let me get working on my willpower muscle :)

Christa when you get to the 1mg tablets make sure you take them WITH food . Like have hlf your breakfast and take your tablet with a full glass of water then eat the rest of your breakfast . Same at night otherwise the nausea is not pleasant . I also found I am constipated which I treat with senna tabs . Other than that side effects are minimal .Good Luck

Hey christa, too soon for champix to make you not want to smoke but by day 12 or 13 you will definitely notice that you are not enjoying them much at all and in fact may be forcing yourself to smoke because you know your quit day is approaching. Evonny is right, you must take them with food and not everybody gets side effects, so don't even worry about the what-ifs, just keep going. I am on day 46 smoke free using champix after 35 years of smoking. I have had no really bad cravings until this past wknd at a party, just when I thought I was so strong! But I didn't give in, so remember champix will get you going on your journey but you will need willpower to stay on it. You can do this, get excited about your quit date, you are going to love how you feel and smell, it's delightful! All the best to you!

Christa - I'm with KAM and evonny here, KEEP TAKING THE TABLETS. I remember feeling like you, doubting they would work for me but I took one day at a time and then my quit day came and went and I made a choice not to beat myself up about that and kept taking the tablets. Now I'm so glad I did. I've been entirely smoke-free for 12 days and feel great. I've actually stopped the Champix and feel sure I won't smoke ever again. They helped me over the intitial few days, not it's down to me and it's not even difficult. I am delighted to be a non-smoker.:) Keep going with the tablets, and they will work.:)

schedule 10 Jul 2014

Go well Christa. I am on day 14 without a cigarette. I didn't use anything. I had a script for Champix but never purchased them. I am 43 and this is the third time I have quit with success. I didn't smoke for 7 years the last quit. Took them up again for 18 months while going through divorce and am now kicking the addiction again. My first quit I read Allan Carrs easy way to quit smoking and would recommend it to any smoker. It helps to understand the addiction. There are only three hard days and that is the first three. My brain would zen out on me wanting a cigarette but after the first three days it gets easier. I can drink beer now without wanting a cigarette but I don't trust myself to be drinking and surrounded by smoke. It really does stink and you can't smell how bad it is when you are smoking.

Quitting is the best thing a smoker can do for themselves. A pack a day habit is $140 a week. $7,280 per year. I can't afford to smoke. I have so much more energy for life without it. Good Luck to all who have quit and those trying. Three days gives you back a level of control once the nicotine is out of the body. NRT is a bad idea . This quit has been the easiest. I know what to expect. Staying quit means not getting married again. That will also save a load of money.
