Stick with it :)

I am on day 8 of being "cigarette free" and have just started week 3 of my Champix program. I must say, the first 9 days of Champix were trouble free (apart from being a little more tired than normal and a dislike of wine!!) however, from day 10, I have been hit with the nausea side affect. Feels like im going through blody morning sickness! Usually lasts half hour in the morning and then an hour at night. Struggling through in the hope that my body adjusts and the the side affect subsides. Anyhow, I am feeling a lot better from not smoking. My skin is clearer (and apparently so are my eyes), Im not coughing at night and my yellow fingers are gone!! The cravings for a cigarette are still there - not so much for nicotine, I think more for habit but they are easily passed. So, to those who have just started with Champix (or any other method), stick with it. Its bloody hard but I can already see the benefits :)

Robsta, congratulations 8 days is fantastic! I know exactly what you mean about the champix, I was fine for the first couple of weeks and then nausea and headaches set in. The nausea I took care of by taking the pill with a meal, that really helped but then the headaches were becoming a problem, so I took a chance and went down to one pill a day and that did the trick. I feel like myself again and I still haven't smoked - it will be one month smoke free tomorrow, so exciting! The only thing I fear is being in a party situation, that will be the true test but I feel so good that I think (hope) that I will have the strength to tackle any situation! Keep up the great work, you should feel very proud! All the best to you!

My approach has been cold turkey. I suffer with mental illness called schizophrenia and my Doctor said champix is a NO NO for people like me unfortunately.
I love my clean fingers! I love feeling better and fit! I love the savings in Dollars.
Kam talks about the party situation. Yeah, that would be a test I'm not going to risk just yet. The temptation to drink alcohol at a party would give me thoughts of smoking for sure. I avoid alcohol especially for this reason. Today I live the clean and sober life and I'm an X-Smoker as well!
KAM: Don't risk drinking mate! avoid parties for now!!!
