I am on day 12 with these tablets and feel like i have been loosing the plotthe past 3 days.... lack of sleep and the nightmares are making me question what is real and what is not! Is it worth taking these and do they work? I have read mixed reviews but seems like I am one of the unlucky ones.

The dreams are unreal, can remember every detail and wake up 4-5 times during the night in a cold sweat absolutely craping myself... The anger I feel could give me a life sentance, there are too many idots or just people that get on my nerves just now.... < I am not normally like this! Even my PC going slow makes me want to tear the house down!I am in a bad mood constantly, my fiance and I have been arguing, I love her to bits but cant seem to find any emotion to show... feel like a shell.

Pains when I wake up are starting to take there toll now, so I have taken a zopliclone and some diazepam to help me sleep tonight and will see how that goes.

Hi Nick88

I'm afraid I won't be much help mate, champix was great for me and the dreams were fantastic. The same type of dreams I used to have during puberty!!!

It sounds like you've done a lot of the hard work though. I quit somking on day 14 of champix and then quit champix after day 29. I didn't finish the entire course but have been smoke free for a month now so that means champix free for about two weeks.

My advice would be to put down the smokes as soon as you can, give it about a week and get off champix too.

Hey Nick, first of all let me say congrats on making the decision to quit, that's a big step! As for the champix, it does sound like you are having more than a normal reaction to it. I am on it as well and my experience has been like this: first week,no problems, by day 8 started having the vivid dreams, that I could remember in detail but they were not at all frightening. Day 8 also brought on nausea. So I started taking the pills with my meals and that really helped the nausea and also helped calm down the dreaming because I was taking the second pill at dinner time, several hours before bedtime. So nausea gone and sleep just fine, then around day 12 the headaches started and I just kind of felt crummy all day ( sure didn't feel like smoking though so that was good). After about 4 weeks of being on champix, and 2 weeks smoke free, I decided I couldn't take the headaches anymore so I went down to one pill a day, and now feel human and I am smoke free for 37 days. I think you should talk to your doctor about the side effects, champix definitely isn't for everyone. Based on all the postings on the site, I would say the majority suffer nausea and headaches to varying degrees but when it's severely affecting your personality and changing who you are, then it might not be right for you. I'm no doctor, so ask a professional. You can also try taking the pills with meals and well before bedtime and see if that helps. Perhaps if you get some sleep you will feel like your old self again. Sorry this has been so rough on you, stay strong and do what is right for you. Keep us posted and all the best to you!

I suffer from a mental illness called schizophrenia. My Doctor said that champix are a big NO NO for people like me. So my current attempt is a cold turkey approach and I have 57 days up.

I have tried substitutes like nicotine lollies, chewy gum and patches but they all led me back to the cigi.

Hi Nick

355 days smoke free due to Champix! Like you I was hit with a truck load of the side effects, I used a over the counter sleeping aid after 3 weeks on Champix. I became aggressive and a below low tolerance for any "perceived" BS BUT and you need to drill this into your mind set - the emotions/ non-emotions that you are going through is only the Champix. Have a look at my stories and get your Fiancé to read up on Champix so that she supports you and have a better understanding.

I stayed on Champix the full course as I smoked for 30+yrs and really wanted to quit.

I give you my word that everything you are going through on Champix is worth being smoke free. A whole new world opens for you when you don't smoke. For one you don't stink anymore, you can go anywhere in public, save money, have better health - google a smokers lungs and print the picture if you feel in doubt if you are doing the right thing. Its not easy but I will do it all over again if I have to.

Hang in there and ride the wave [breathe] when you get angry or aggressive, go for a brisk walk and start doing some form of exercise. Same with your dreams - when you wake up - tell yourself its only the tabs causing it. Change your mind set.

I really, really hope that you can quit.

GOOD LUCK!!!
