Today is the day
Today is my quit day. I'm using champix to help me this time. Other quit attempts have usually gone between a couple of days to a couple of months. I've tried cold turkey, nicotine cartridges, gum and e-cigs. The gum was the best of them all, but I found with the nicotine replacement methods I still craved the nicotine.
Every time I quit I get dizzy, blurred vision, strong headaches and the usual grumpiness. Those symptoms are still apparent with champix, but I really don't enjoy smokes anymore. Every time I have a smoke it's like it's my first and I find myself looking for something to get the taste out of my mouth.
I promised my daughter about 6 years ago that if she quit biting her nails, I would quit smoking. Well, she quit biting her nails immediately and I've been trying to quit smoking ever since. I want to quit, but never expected it to be so hard. It's really given me an insight in to addiction. I think, like those people at AA meetings, that I will always be a smoker, the only thing that will vary is the time in between smokes. Hopefully I can stretch out the time to 40 or 50 years this effort.
I don't know if posting on here will help, but I'm going to post my results daily. If nothing else it may give me an insight in to my vulnerabilities with quitting if I see a pattern for slip ups, and hopefully help others.

We'll "quittingformykids" you are already ahead of me - I am quitting for my grand kids! You can do it! Try taking the champix with meals only, I found that cured the nausea and headaches. One at breakfast and one at dinner. You will be amazed a good you feel in just a week! All the very best to you!

Just wondering how you made out? Did taking the pills with food resolve the nausea issue? And have u been able to quit? Hope it's going well!
Going really well Kam. On my 4th day and feeling strong. Haven't been eating with the pills but I started feeling a lot better after about 12 hours off the fags.
