This time it's for good

When I got pregnant with my first child I gave up smoking immediately and stayed a non-smoker for 9 years.  Unfortunately after a stressful relationship I started again and have smoked for 20 years.  During the weekend of 3/4th May I started feeling unwell and had an awful cough which ended up being a chest infection.  That afternoon I decided that I had just smoked my last cigarette.  Because I felt so rotten the  thought and smell of a cigarette made me feel nauseous so I used the opportunity to my advantage and  I have not smoked since.  The best way for me to tackle it is to not think about smoking and not dwell on thinking that I can't have a cigarette.  That makes the journey easier and at present I have no desire to ever smoke again.   Cold turkey and mind over matter is definitely is the best way for me.  Good Luck to everyone who is trying. I am now on day 16 smoke free.

I went cold turkey as well and am now entering 8 months of no smoking. Well done and I hope you do well.

Well done Bluebird. I'm 4 months smoke free after 34 years but I used Champix. Cheers
