4 months along smoke free

Hi all.
Well today marks 4 months smoke free. Started Champix 10/01/14 quit day was 21/01/14.
Let me tell you nothing has been easy, somehow I have managed to not have a smoke now in 4 months. I finsihed the Champix course well over a month ago. I found I had some wild dreams on them and difficulties sleeping. Well I still have major sleep problems (sleep apnea will do that) but the wild dreams seem to have gone with the Champix cessasion. I still crave for a smoke. I still want a smoke when I have a drink. I watch other people smoke and think GEEEZE I'd like one of them. I dont feel that much better for quiting apart from the fact I breath a bit easier now and dont queeze at night or after exercise.
I think its mainly all willpower but the Champix definately helped. I was talking to an old mate the other day who is now 82 years old. He started smoking at 12 and quit at age 47. 35 years a smoker and now 35 years a non smoker. Worst part was he told me he still craves a smoke occasionally and could start right back up again. I dont really know if theres any hope for me or I am just kidding myself but I take it day by day and can only try. I started smoking at 14 and was 48 years and 3 months old Jan 21st 2014, so nearly 35 years a smoker myself. One could say the damage is done.
I've had mates come and stay and they have been smoking pot and tobacco around me and drinking (i was drinking as well) and whilst I was tempted many times to have a joint or a ciggy with them like in the good old days I managed to refrain.
I guess one of the only things that keeps me from not smoking is my son is getting married in January 2015 and I expect Grandkids RAPIDLY!. I want to be around for as long as possible to enjoy them and lets face it we all know that smoking kills you early but most of us are addicted and just dont care. Remember nicotine is more addictive than Heroin so quitting IS NOT easy.
I wish all other fellow quitters all the best in their journey, good luck and best wishes with it. For those of you that have tried and slipped up or failed stick at please, dont give up on quitting. Do you want to die before you have to?
So folks theres my 4 month update. I hope I can report in my six monthly update I am still smoke free. I still consider myself a smoker who just does not smoke rather than a non smoker. Don't know why.
I'm also now saving up for an updated/new motorcycle with the money I have saved in four months. Nearly $1000 :-)
Cheers for now :-)
Hi Bugit
I smoked for 35 years too and I've quit for 13 weeks. I also want to save for a motorbike. I had to sell my Guzzi.
I think it really all is in the mind. I consider myself a non-smoker now. I'm never going back to that filthy habit and I don't miss it. Don't listen to ur old mate. You've made the best decision for ur health and to live a long life and enjoy ur grand kids. Don't look back.

I'd like an Italian bike - a Guzzi, Laverda or Aprilia or maybe a Triumph. Probably won't get a 750 again as it was so heavy.

Currently riding a 1993 zzr1100. I would like to get a nice Harley or kwaka nomad or Vulcan. Or even a Suzuki boulevard. I want something nice and big and comfy for change instead of just speed and power.
Sounds good. I've always had a thing for Italian bikes since I was a courier in London. Had 2 Guzzis. But will probably shop around.
