Concerns with Champix

I've been using Champix for 8 days now. I've made it through the first week without touching a single cigarette after smoking a pack every day and a half. I think has helped a lot - but I have health concerns if I continue taking the aid.

My mood swjngs are unpredictable. I've quit smoking for 3 mknths cold turkey before, and I WAS irritable - but not THIS irritable  When people say things I dont understand I have to shut my eyes and very visibly take deep breaths. People are starting to think I'm arrogant. I'm trying to control myself. Once I explain that it's usually OK, but I've never been like that.

I also am itching in my feet/legs like crazy. I'm worried it might be a rash as a side effect of champix. It started since just over a day ago.

So I've decided to not take the chance. From today forward I will quit on my own. I've registered with the Quitline for weekly updates (they'll call me and check how I'm doing) and I've arranged to start the gym next week every day to preoccupy myself and stave off any weight gain,  and better yet - get fit again.

The way I see it - if I just switch a dependency ffom cugarettes to champix I'm not exactly free of anything. If I'm afraid of what I might do off the champix in terms of smoking, then I would never make it anyway. No. I want this. And I'm going to bloody prove it.

If the Champix make you itch perhaps see your Dr and get some advice. Good luck with your cold turkey. I know for sure I would never have quit that way!!! More kudos to you!!! There is always someone here willing to share other ideas...I gave up the champix simply because of the bad dreams i was having, but then I cut down to one a day for a week before giving them up entirely. Once again..I wish you all the success in the world!!!
