I tried going cold turkey. Lasted 3 days. Then was recommended gum.  This was great,  until I had all my teeth removed for prothestics. Then a family member had some lozenges they didn't want. So I was using gum and lozenges and now also a inhalator. These are all doing a great job. But I can't stop taking them. I first quit in 2008. Relapsed in 2010 and now its been 4 years since I had a cigarette. I am still on NRT and will be forever, I guess

I think this is what is happening to me . I am addicted to gum. I hate paying for it and get all upset when I don't have any.

I would be so grateful to not smoke. It smells up my face. My hair stinks and is lank. Perhaps you have forgotten the constant negative mind games. A chewy is a lesser concern. I hear you but at the moment I would prefer to chew. I do both. Perhaps you can advise on how you quit. you have done so well, and for an extended period of time.

Hi Sporty, I know exactly what you are experiencing. I have stopped the stupid inhalator as it was giving me chest pain. I am still on lozenges and hardly use the gum. I go through 12-15 lozenges a day approximately. I am sick of paying for them too. I have tried just stopping them, substituting them for mint lollies instead with no luck. I had one time I ran out of lozenges and only gad about $15. I was going mental without them. I brought a small packet of cigarettes. I was nearly 18 months off the smokes. Two weeks later I was off the smokes and back on Monday lozenges, with the help of champix. I haven't smoked since. All up I have been using NRT for 6 years. So, I have the same reaction as you when I run out. I don't think I will ever stop talking them. Congratulations on quitting, I hope you achieve your goals and wish you all the best.

Hi Penelope. When I first quit in 2008, I used Nicotinell gum. I used this for 2 years and was going great, but the urge to just have 1 cigarette became too much. Two weeks later, I got champix and started lozenges. I haven't smoked since 2010. If I don't have the lozenges, I want a cigarette. I feel like I haven't quit at all cause I still need that nicotine hit. That's all I have done. I wish you well and you should be proud if your efforts to quit.
