Time to face reality

Posted in Quit experiences
schedule 9 Feb 2014

I am an addict to nicotine.  I have attempted to quit several times in the past 5 years and have been unsuccessful.  I have been smoking for over 20 years, and last year I had a biopsy on my larynx.   I am in my early 40's and have 2 beautiful children who need me.  Even after my biopsy last year, I snuck smokes off and on.  I made myself a promise that I was going to make 2014 different, and smokefree.  So far it has been 39 days smoke free.  Still struggling with it, but challenging myself to get through February.  I celebrated on Feb !st and took my hubby and kids out to dinner with the money I saved from smoking, and told them that each month I will take them out on the first if i can make it without smoking the previous month. MY problem is when I have a stressful day, I go to bed and dream that I smoked.  I actually wake up in the morning and question whether or not  I did.  But with my faith in God, I take it one day at a time.  That's all we can do as addicts!!

Thanks everybody for your support!! All of your stories have inspired me too, and feel happy that someone understands me!! And Miss J: Please keep trying. If it takes you a hundred times, don't give up. One of my favorite preachers wrote: Failure comes when you quit trying. I have to repeat that often.
