Quit Smoking!

G'day Folks,
Just wanted to let you all know that today will be my 2nd month without smokes. It's a great feeling to know I don't have the cravings and seems like my body has slowly started to forget the need for one. I haven't had any side effects to date from Champix. I have been a chain smoker for the past 2 years now averaging between a packet or two a day.
My cousin who picked up smoking when he was 13 (He is 38 now), asked me "how do you quit something that's basically been a big part of my life?". He also told me that he really wants to quit, but, couldn't find a good enough reason to quit. I'm sure there are many out there who picked up smoking at a very young age and quitting for them is basically like breaking up a 20-30 years old relatonship with someone.
I guess the key to quitting is to divert you mind with other things and to keep reminding yourself the reasoning behind your desire to quit. Although the reasons are obvious, some people need a catalyst. That catalyst could be for a loved one that you want to be with or perhaps just the need to live a healthy life to watch your children grow, graduate, get married.
I would suggest you sit down by yourself and think about that one reason that will give you the will to quit.
On the other hand it's also important to change your routine. If you are at work and you notice your collegues walking out for a smoke, just ignore going out during that time. Have your lunch at your desk. Read a book or solve a puzzle. Go to the gym after work. Whatever it takes to divert your mind.
Soon you will start to notice how well your body has started to adapt to this new routine and before you even notice, your body would have basically forgotten the need for a cigarette.
Good luck people. I know you can do it!!! Take control of you lives now... You got one life and don't let this stupid addiction get the better of you!!!

Great advice adarsh and well done on quitting for 2 months keep going and good luck
