Close to Quit

So far so good, I have been on Champix now for past 12 days. My last smoke was 2 days back and I smoked only one that day. I am coming from 5 cigarettes a day. In past12 days I have been smoke free for about 4 days. The urge to smoke is almost gone, however it peaks up every afternoon around 3 to 4 PM. I am learning to keep myself busy. While Champix has blocked my urge the body still needs nicotine. I know it because for a couple of nights I have been smoking in my dreams:), sounds weird. The other day after my office meeting that afternoon I almost got up for a smoke as I used to and realised I don't have a cigarette and then I realised I have quit smoking.
Smoking is very distracting; my mind is used to planning another smoke session and keeps looking for opportunities. I realise, it’s such a nuisance going 24 hours in your mind, how much of your thinking is interrupted by this thing alone, let go other things.
This long weekend will be a big challenge. Will keep writing.

Well done. Sounds like your on the right track. I too hate thinking about smoking 24/7, I am looking forward to being free of the addiction. Stay strong over the weekend. You CAN do it.

Good post, keep going you are doing well , you describe the experience so well.

Had some good wine yesterday evening, I would have easily smoked had Champix not blocked my urge. I didn't feel anything, kept myself busy with friends, food and Australian open.

youre going well mate, so far, keep it up, i intend to start on the 28th jan, the dream is not wierd about you smoking as it has ruled your mind for so long, i reckon thats going to be the challenge, changing its control on our minds, i want full control of mine, not cigarettes , keep going

Indeed blaze, I have been smoking for past 15 years. Its a shock body has to adjust to. Best of luck for 28th, please do smoke for another week I would suggest after starting Champix. You will find better reasons to quick thereafter. Don't quit straight way, take it easy.

Saturday gone..no smoke. Bigger challenge tomorrow, going out with my smoky friend!! Will be tough.

Completed the long weekend smoke free. Missed champix for 2 nights as were eating out. Annoyed my smoky friend, I have been smoking with him for past 5 years. I hope not to loose him. Feeling the urge because of two misses. I will switch back to routine today onwards.
