never get lured into thinking one smoke will be ok

I have quit smoking before, I went 8 years without a smoke i was so proud of myself and did not crave a cigarette at all or so i thought, one day i had hurt my back and everything i tried was not giving me any relief at all i was in so much agony and stressing as i could not work due to my back pain, i dont know why but i grabbed a cigarette and the rest as they say is history, yes i was ashamed to say that i started smoking again, and i started smoking with a vengence a packet a day. and i did not want to stop, i smoked for 4 years up until i decided i have had enough so here i am 3 weeks and have not had a cigarette and im doing really good, i do have cravings every now and then but they are getting easier to manage every day..so my advice is that you always have to be on guard and always remind yourself that you are a non-smoker. because you can slip up and end up smoking again even years after you have stopped..

you have to have a strong mental attitude and remember you are an addict and there is no such thing as just one well it is good that you have stopped all the best and goodluck.

I'm with stoprightnow you have to be really in the right mind and body set, I'm only 40 days and I work with smokers and smell the smoke all the time but I just tell myself I do not smoke anymore. Also I have realised that stress, pain and problems do not get solved by the dreaded smoke that is in our heads.

yes, of course you need to be in the right frame of mind to quit and have the willpower to want to quit. i just had my first major challenge my sister was rushed to hospital, it was quite emotional and stressful, on the good side i did not reach for a cigarette and the bad side my sister is still in hospital..
