Well I got through my second weekend and even passed my driving test - a 500km round trip without smoking! I thought that would be really tough, especially the drive home tired.

Some of the things that I thought would be hard are turning out to be easy, and some things that were easy the first week are now hard - go figure!!

I hope you guys are wrong about weeks 3 and 4 being the worst! I am finding work hard at the moment, but it could be more work related than ciggie related, like I'd rather be at home than at work!

Anyway day 12 and feeling very positive

Hi Larch , day 12 good going, those early weeks are the hardest. Well done on the driving test that is fantastic. It is all experience and you are growing stronger everyday you stay smoke free against the psychological aspects of the addiction. It all passes. I would not be worried about week 3 or 4, everybody is different and reacts different. Post here any concerns. You are doing awesome, treat yourself to something nice this week to reward yourself because you deserve it. keep posting

Go Larch! You are right to feel positive. I think what I found hard about week three was that I started to relax a little, and any sudden cravings took me by surprise. The first couple of weeks you are so focused on facing familiar situations without smoking, you are kind of mentally prepared. Week three was a bit of an emotional roller coaster ride, torn between feeling upbeat about beating the addiction, and feeling flat and lethargic. Just stay on guard against those silly unexpected longings, and expect a few mood swings. Stay strong, you'll do it!

Staying positive is what works best for me. Once we have gone so far without a cigarette, you just have to stay focussed as to why you gave up so that you will not falter.

You have already proved you can do it by driving the long distance. Well done and I am sure you will not have any problems.
