yet another quit day approaching

Attemp number.......cant keep count. Done 3 months, done 4 weeks, done 3 days and i have done the hours.....now just got to nail the happily ever after!

Well our government is giving a price hike, i am going to be one of many who fall into the bracket of want to quit, do, then hick ups/life happens.

I want to stop, i want to be a non smoker, i want to breath the air with out smoke, i want to have will power coursing through my veins.

I also wanna cry.

hey bejarnie - i can sure resonate with what you are saying. I think most of us can - actually i think all of us can.

I think the happily ever after is a mindset - i think it comes from realising you never actually got anything out of smoking except an addiction fix. That takes time but a good help for that is the Allen Carr book - the only way to quit smoking.

There are alternatives - swedish snus is a good one - ecigs - nrp - champix - the nicorette spray is a great help once you get used to the taste.

I was off everything but the last few days i have opted to use a little bit of snus - i use 3 or 4 mini portions a day. But I am day 50 without cigs. Snus cost me about $5 a week and i really like it.

Lots of options - the first few weeks was pretty hard but it sure was not as hard as i have always made it for myself - and i have quit a million times too. Once i got my head right it was alot easier.

Don't be scared - smoking really is doing nothing for you except feeding an addiciton. :)

From what I have learnt from reading post on this website you really have to be in the right frame of mind to quit, from what they say is when the cravings hit you need to be able to distract yourself and the cravings will pass. So all the best in your journey stay positive and determined and keep posting as there is some really good points people make. My quit date was 31.07 and I haven't quit yet but from reading the post that people have made I am not ashamed but I am still determined. So I have chosen another date and reducing each day leading up to it.

Take care and good luck

Hey there Bejarnie, Firstly congrats to you for making the decision that you are going to quit.. Just letting you know, You are absolutely not alone, We are all addicted to Nicotine, and can relate to where you are.. Just take it 1 day at a time, 1 hour at a time, minutes at a time if that's what it takes. Have a plan in place for when you think your going to crave, whatever and however to get you through.I think as our journey on this road progress's we learn to cope with the cravings..Anyway well done and good luck and keep posting to keep us in touch with your progress xx
