is cahmpix dangerous or helpful ?

i have been tring to quite for a year now. i started quiting using a step down program. i used to smoke more then 2 packs a day. i first quite for about 14 days last december. but then returned gradually to it till i reached 1 pack a day.. this is my 3rd trial. i am now smoking between 4-14 cigs per day depending on the situation. i have come so far now, i want to try champix to help get through the huge and dificult cravings i am having when i reach few cigs per day.. but i heard that its a dangerouse drug and can ruin my life or get me killed. i would like some advise on this

I used Champix and it is very good. I quit for 2 years...
There are some side effects but nothing to do with die... :)
Talk to your doctor about it, you will need a prescription to get it anyway.
Good luck!

I'm on day 11 smoke free. Go team Champix! It's working for me. I think the key to any quit attempt, is to be 100% committed. See your doc, if it doesn't work stop taking it. Remember your body will play tricks on your for its want for nicotine. Stick with it. Cravings are only a feeling, like an emotion they can be controlled. There's no harm in trying. Go for it!

Hi Ibrahim, I am on day 17 of champix with no real problems. As long as you remember to take with food and a big glass of water it shouldn't make you feel sick. I take mine with my meals cos it's easier to remember that way. I slept a bit for the first couple of days but that's all. I, like you, was unsure but I'm really glad that I did. It took me 11 days to actually stop but in that last week instead of being a pack a day I didn't even finish a pack. It's a 12 week course but I am only going to take it for as long as I think is necessary & probably won't go all the way. I think it's a great way to do it. If it weren't for the champix I probably would still be smoking. I know a few people who have used this method & none of them have had any problems & all have stopped smoking. Cheers
my hubby is on champix - he is a die hard smoker and swore he would never quit - and he has not had a smoke in 5 days and really could care less.
Mind you- he did have a bad nightmare and lashed out and punched me in the head while asleep - that was bad - but the benefits far outweigh the negative. I just have him sleeping in another room for a few weeks till he adjusts.

The other day I told my friend ( she's a smoker ) that I have started taking champix she said oh no the side effects are horrible , after I got off the phone I thought to myself how naive she is to think the side effects from smoking are less
