I never thought I could!!!!

Hi everyone, hope you are doing great on this bloody big challenge! I am currently on day 16 of my quit journey! I started off using Champix... I used it 2 weeks before I officially quit which was on the 24th June! Champix is awesome if you can over come the sickness (mine was morning like sickness for about 2 hrs when I took it in the morning) evening tabs were ok so long as I had had something substantial to eat. I defs had to pick a day to quit and lucky for me my husband is on this journey with me! Thought I would join this forum to offer any tips or help for anyone if you need it! Not completely there yet but have smoked heavily for a lonnnnggggg time and never thought I could even get to this day! Take care Mich xx

Are you still taking Champix? I have just started using it (day 4) and so far it's had no effect, although I THINK I've cut back a bit. I have been reading some of the side effects (personal stories) and they seem to start after the course has finished. I'm wondering whether to continue with it.
Cheers Lorraine

Hi, sorry had to change my profile name and such as I couldn't log in, but no I stopped taking Champix last Thursday as it was really making me ill. My husband is still taking 1 a day and we both haven't smoked since the 24th of June, have bad moments (like tonight) but I defs think the Champix helped me to quit. Will power is a must also! Good luck to you Lorraine - I am cheering for you!
Michelle

Hiya mich073, I have been on champix for 6.5 weeks now and my husband for 9.5 weeks. We had vivid dreams and I felt I'll. But that disappeared pretty soon as I read you should always take with food and a BIG glass of water. The water really helps. Good luck

Hi Mich, how long before were you on them before you stopped smoking or before you started to cut right back? I am day five and I was told that it would make you feel really sick if you had a ciggie but not yet for me.
Cheers Lorraine

Hi Lorraine, I started the Champix on the 10th of June, I took them for the 2 weeks as your supposed to and didn't stop smoking at all in the 2 weeks. I even had a few more as I thought this isn't bloody working. Gradually and over the next few days I noticed a change in the taste, (nail polish remover for me) and not really wanting to have the rest of the ciggy or just simply waiting for a while before the next one! But this didn't happen until well into the 2nd week! But look at me now, 17 days smoke free, would still really like one for about 10 seconds then poof gone! Good luck Lorraine, you can do this,
Don't fear it really does work, 14 days and it the champix really does seem to change your mind set.
Cheers to you,
Michelle

Hi Mich, thank you for that because I was beginning to wonder about the champix. Sometimes I think that the cig tastes funny but only for a second so hopefully things are starting to work. I will continue on it & hopefully the yuk taste will come soon. Again thanks
Cheers Lorraine

Hi Mich, day 8 now on champix & have only had about6 ciggies. couple of drags is about all I can handle. Quit day is next sunday. Cheers

Ohhhhh soo excited for you Lorraine, day 22 for us today, I haven't had the Champix for 2 weeks on Thursday and am still going fine, my hubby stopped the Champix probably last Saturday and he's doing great also, have some cranky times, but very fleeting (thank goodness), I thought I would take the Champix for the whole 3 months but seem to be ok without it, but would still highly recommend taking the whole course. Is someone your support in this Lorraine? Just seems to make life easier if you have someone else going through the same thing!!! I am still thinking about smoking but not as much as the past few weeks, having some very vivid dreams about smoking too (ha ha) but am so determined to never smoke again. You can do it!! 6 ciggies in the last few days is amazing, they do taste a bit different hey! Will be thinking of you next Sunday, and will log in just to give you some encouragement. You can DO IT! I did and am still amazed at myself! Take Care, Michelle :)

Hi Michelle, Well I'm day 14 on champix & I haven't had a ciggie for 4 days now. No there is no one helping me through this but although I still sometimes think I want a cig it is really just a habit thing & I put a pen in my hand or flex my fingers a few times. Cheers

Ohh well done you... I know the feeling too well. A big fat CONGRATULATIONS... Hip Hip hooray! As you know we are nearly 1 month now and still going strong. Having a few fleeting moments - sometimes strong ones, but getting far and in between now! Habit is such a strong emotion... Just a big well done - if I can you can too! Take care, Michelle :)
