Help

Just need to know how I can get back on track with eating right. I have been so naughty and keep making excuses , that it is because I am quitting. Very poor of me indeed and I am feeling low because of this.

Hey Suse, I guess you've got to look at whats happening here.ARE you replacing the cigs with food- If so you've then got to look at what your eating.. I quit for a while last year and put on 20 kgs--Crazy I know. Anyway started faggin again, lost that weight. Gave up the fags again this time 72 days and have put nothing on...
Maybe cut out your sugar, go wholemeals and wholegrains, etcdrink water, water and then more water..lol.I guess where im going with this is, eat more healthier, the wholegrains are going to keep you feeling fuller longer therefore will stop you wanting to gorge yourself with the not so good foods...
But you also have to be a little kind to yourself and allow SOME weight gain..We have to do whatever we can to stay smokefree, if that means you put on 5 kgs, thats not so bad you can always deal with the weight loss a little later..
Either way-Your still smokefree, so your doing extremely well..Good luck, stay strong and No you dont need any chocolate right now,,lol only kidding :)
Suse when you give up smoking you replace with food for some reason. The trick now is to get off the food cravings and start replacing that with exercise perhaps or like Gammy has said use a more healthier alternative. This time round I am happy to say that I have not put any weight on but I have managed that with extensive exercise so I know I am eating more than usual but I have replaced what I am eating with more exercise. Tell yourself if I eat this what will I do to take off the extra calories ..... it might be go for a long walk, walk up the stairs, do some housework etc so replace the food with some form of exercise. I know in the past when i out ojn weight I did go back on the smokes to take the weight off but this time round I have been more determined to not put the weight on as I didn't want to go back to smoking.
Work out what is best for you and you will see the results in no time. Keep us informed on your progress.

Hi Suse..... I know what you mean the weight thing can get you really down....and it sometimes feels like the weight will not stop coming. It is hard to control at the start .... it is the hands and the mouth. I know I have put on weight but I do not get on the scales.... don't want to know exactly...I just am more conscious of foods I eat and I run as much as I can I have not lost any weight I am just stabilising at the moment..... I am just glad that I am still off the smokes and that is all that matters. try not too worry too much, you can get rid of it...... as long as you cut out the wrong foods, drink loads of water it really helps too. Good luck and stay strong you are doing well ...treat yourself to something nice... don't forget to do that ...it is a big adjustment.....so pat on the back for getting this far and stay strong.
