Approaching my quit date and getting nervous

Hi, my quit date is set for 30.07.2013 am getting very nervous I am day 3 of taking Champix and have shown no sign of stopping smoking. I think I had my mind set on that it was a wonder drug and i would instantly be able to stop. Ha I now realise that it is also my will and belief that I can give up.
How did people go about getting their heads in the right frame of mind, I don't want to fail I really want this to work. Thanks

you have only been taking champix for 3 days give it a chance to work champix is no wonder drug you want to quit don't you? there is nothing sold on the market that will make you stop smoking you have to want to stop champix will work if you want it to work, well just take it easy and just relax stay strong.

Yep the Champix is just a helper, you still have to do most of the hard yards yourself, but the more yards you do the easier it gets.
Absolutely determined to give up is the attitude that will get you through the easiest. It gives you the strength to resist that "one smoke" temptation that will hit you just like it does to about everyone who gives up.
The determination will be strengthened as you pass the various milestones like 1 day, week, month, although most tally just the days because it is definitely a one day at a time process.
To help you on your way and encourage you, I'm on day 400 and something, after smoking for 53 years.

I found that the biggest thing Champix did for me was that I didn't experience any horrible withdrawal symptoms. I did need to change some of my habits, like morning coffee and a smoke, but it was really suprisingly easy. Once you have a few days of no smoking you will be amazed how you feel. Good Luck, believe in yourself and you will be fine.

I thought about giving up for ages before I actually did it. I had to find that moment when my brain clicked in and when I out out that last cigarette I didn't realize it was my last. My mind just said - that's it - it's time.
That was 21 days ago - it was hard at first, even with the patches but I'm so glad I did it. It does get easier. Good luck!

Hey Krispy,
Champix is a part of the quit process. I'm day 24 of champix (Go Team Champix) 15 days smoke free now. When I started chempix, I thought I'd stop straight away, didn't work. Changed my perspective, got my mind set, then it just happened. Seems like yesterday I butt out for the last time. When you've been doing something for so long, it part of your life. Change your life and routines to suit your new goals. Your time will come, let it happen. Good luck, stay strong and keep posting. This site is helping me, hope it does for you too.

Thanks, for all your great comments. Tomorrow I am going to monitor how may smokes I have and see how I go. I actually think I will be okay
have a great weekend....
My hubby was 12 days on champix (i think) and he was still a happy smoker thinking champix was doing nothing for him - then he ran out of smokes and decided he good not be bothered buying more - it was then he realised how much champix was doing. He has not looked back and he does think its the wonder drug - i mean its still quitting - he still has to quit but he is not nutty like he thought he would be.
that should say - he could not be bothered buying more - sorry for my typos - i have been up since very early

Hey krispy, I felt the same as you, got to day 15 and smoked my last 3 and couldn't be bothered buying any more. I found the smokes tasted terrible after about 10 days and I was smoking less and less. Or I would light one and just put it out after a puff or 2. I'm day 39 smoke free and feel good and love having extra cash in my wallet. I cracked last night and had one puff of a smoke - it was disgusting -I was so happy as I still had a little bit of that I'm missing something. I'm not- none of us are. Don't be nervous- finish the pack you have and then throw empty pack, lighters and ashtrays in the bin. You will be fine-stay positive and keep reading and posting.

I am new on this site on day 6 champix . cigs still tasting good, I was feeling a little discouraged , thanks all for your encouraging words!!
