day 7

This is my first public jounal, ive tried champix two years ago and had quit for 3 months until a series of very stressful events led me to my relapse, and it was as if i was smoking more in a day than i ever had in the last 37 years of my smoking life. it feels as if there can not be life without smoking,, its like i have to totally reboot my brain and start again, Champix forces me to eat breakfast, something quite foreign to die hard nicotine addicts, for me this was a big first step from day one. fearing the nausea, i hang out for at least 2 hours before my first cigarette, and at night a good dinner to prepare for the evening dose. im still craving my cigarettes but i beleive the gradual change of routines will start to be more rewarding than the vile taste and smell and yuk of the smoke, the greatest fear is that if i fail this time there will be no hope for me,...

Thankyou i would normally have had 2 smokes just writing this i think one of the triggers could well be anxiety, and that in turn leads to procrastination, hey this is better than paying for therapy lol alma

Hi Almina, welcome.
Just remember quitting cigarettes is one of the hardest things to do and there is always hope. Never give up giving up. As many others will agree it takes more than 1 attempt for some.
Stay strong, keep posting and remind yourself often of all the nasty things that smoking is/does.

Welcome Almiun, I am on the champix too, and yes I used to smoke and tea instead of breakfast. I am finding that my patterns have changed since starting them , eating more in a regular pattern. good luck and keep posting.

Hi TTQ1980, well done on deciding to quit today. Cravings are intense at this stage. I would take deep breaths first, focus . This is a normal reaction. Get a glass of water, sip it slowly by the time you have finished it's gone. Are you using gum, or any aids, to help. Another good tip is to brush you teeth and mouth wash, it freshens the mouth. Keep repeating to yourself, this will pass, and get weaker as you do not give it power. You are stronger than it. We are here to support you. Keep posting, and reading posts here really help to. Stay strong. good luck . I am using Champix on my 22 day, 12 days smoke free, feels good and they really help. Good luck , keep posting
