4 days and feeling great

Well Im finally in the right frame of mind.  I have been talking about quitting since January 12 and here I am 18 months later.  With many weak attempts of patches and Champix which made me sick and sleep all of the time, Im now in day 4 on patches and feeling great.  I must say I feel energetic and can take a deep breath without a heavy feeling in my chest.  I know its early days and have had cravings but I crave food more than anything.  My biggest fear now is putting on the weight.  Im also not sleeping well and waking every hour and cant get comfortable.  Does anyone have any suggestions on the food and weight issue along with the sleepness nights?

Good on you for not giving up,you will continue to feel better after each day,when I felt I needed food I used to have a chuppa chup,seemed to work for me.i am on day 67 no more patches just a lozenge now and then.good luck....

Hello, Mum of 2, good stuff on 4 days , well done that is good going. I am craving food too it is ridiculous an hour after a meal I am starving again. I just buy what I need the basics, which makes it harder because I have no goodies to go for. I drink a glass of water and that helps. the sleep hot milk helps me before you go to bed. good luck.

Hi we'll done at four days, water helps or healthy museli bars the heart foundation has which ones are the best. If you find i hard maybe give up smoking first and worry about weight later, good luck.

Thankyou all for your advice. This weekend will be my first biggest challenge. Having a birthday party for my son and 2 of the guests are smokers. It think so long as I dont see it then I should be ok. Im hoping thats the way it will work but will soon see.

The craving for cigarettes resembles hunger for food. That's why so many people put on weight when they quit. It's hard to distinguish the difference. For me, I'm hoping drinking lotys of water and eating fruit will help.

I wish Champix had worked for me but it made me feel light headed and very dry in my mouth. Don't want to do patches as that feels like I have not only quit smoking but quit patches as well.
