Wow never thought I would get this far! Got an email from My Journey asking if I noticed that the coughing and breathlessness has decreased, YES. I have always had a cough that I got used to having that I didnt notice it anymore,I am getting comments now from friends and family saying that they used to know I was coming by my cough, now they dont Lol. The breathlessness is almost gone but then again I havent really tested it with anything strenuous yet. Am still trying to fight the emotion of loss and lonely at times are the worst atm. But have decided to get out and do something more like long walks etc. I have had to give up surrounded by smokers,my hubby is a heavy smoker. One good thing about this is that it stinks, reminding me not to have one.

Huge congrats. I honestly am inspired by your efforts giving up while around smokers. All my previous attempts were conducted while living with other smokers and failed. This time round I have the distinct benefit of not being in that situation until we go visiting and I don't think I will handle that too well so all the power and strength to you. I am only a couple weeks into my journey and only a couple of days smoke free but when it gets hard I am going to think about you and your situation. I to am finding that trading walking for smoking is extremely helpful. I couldn't see how walking could substitute for smoking given that the 2 activities are so different but it actually works. For me it has an added bonus of good feeling as I am overweight, fighting the eating demons as well as smoking demons and going for a good walk makes me feel really good and does actually deal with the urge.

Thanks. I think for me walking works for me because I never smoked while working,or doing activities, and I never smoked in public believe it or not. Just old fashioned that way, so home is my hardest place to be. But it is getting easier to resist a smoke then last week.ATM lol
