Targets or achievments

When I decided to quit, the most important day for me was Day One. Was I going to succeed ? Well I did and from there I had to get to one week without a smoke.
All along the way was another target - can I do one month ? Then on reaching that, it was an achievment.
Then there was 3 months, 6 months and somewhere along the way 100 days. Those who have done it know only too well the sense of satisfaction in reaching these important days.
My biggest was getting to one whole year.
Well today I celebrate 400 days without a cigarette.
I still occasionally have a thought that one would be pleasant but the gut wrenching cravings no longer exist.
This site has been a help, reading others stories and knowing that today I have $6600 that I would have spent on smokes. That alone is a good enough excuse to never smoke again.
To those who are just starting off on the journey, stick with it. Get through the hard times knowing it gets easier. Never say just one won't hurt - that causes the undoing of most and it takes a lot to start over the quitting again.

Hey Gerry1 - congratulations!! Well Done!! Wish I had a year under my belt. Today is another milestone for me - week 2. I still miss it, but it is easier than the first week, and hopefully next week will be easier than this weeke and so on. Battling a bit with Quit Zits - but keeping going.
