Quit Zits

I encountered another, up to then unknown, challenge yesterday. Over the weekend I started feeling slight bumps on my forehead and then yesterday afternoon these big bumps popped up on my chin and under my chin and into my neck. I went searching and this is apparently a known phenomenon for smoking quitters and is renowned as "Quit Zits". You will find mountains of complaints about it and it develops into full blown acne and can last up to 18 months. I am horried. I thought the hardest part of giving up smoking, was going to be giving up smoking. BTW - I am day 11.

Leighdo, a couple of zits are better than what smoking causes, I have been following you on my journey (you are two days in front of me) and you are my inspiration thank you for all of your stories I look forward to them

Hi rainbow4006 - why don't the people talk about all the symptoms? Then we would all know what to expect. I had no idea what was happening to me with these zits. You never know what tomorrow will bring. And I smoked 2 packs a day for 35 years so I guess I'm in for a worse time than most. Am really glad things worked out so well for you and you are almost, almost at a full year. WOW!!!!

Hi there guys, I quit smoking last July (2015) after smoking for 27 years.
As soon as I did a host of underlying issues came to the surface, including stress. I also stopped working due to injury, which may or may not have been aggravated by the stress on my body from quitting. Not long after and have had some serious weight gain issues, I have also had issues with things like sinusitis, lack of sleep and dry skin, especially acne on and around the edges of my nose which is also now a constant sunburned red colour. I never really had too many issues with acne until now, never suffered from hayfever or itchy eyes. How do you remedy such issues?
