I have only not been smoking now for 17 hours and I already understand what these people mean when they say that they will never have another smoke because they don't want go back and do it all over again, whether its been 2 days, 10 days, or 20 days. I just want my 3 weeks to come quickly, because they say it is much easier then.

Well it's pretty clear you are having a struggle on your first day. I was 40/day for 35 years and I'm just starting Day 42. To give you an idea, last night I was out and at one stage was sitting in the outside area of a pub with a drink and was with 3 people who were all smoking. I actually didn't want a cigarette at that point. However, here it is at 4am and I've woken in the middle of the night and this is sometimes when I get cravings which I find quite bizarre. You'll see from these pages that everyone is different and yout "triggers" will differ from others.

It does get a whole lot easier but it happens gradually, so just hang in there and take it one day, one hour, one craving at a time.

Well I've worked through my latest craving so I'm off back to bed for some more sleep. Good luck - there's strangers cheering for you and keep us updated.
