Hi all, wellI guess I just need to be completely honest with my story!I have thought about quitting for over a year now with a few attempts! After a big health scare at 39 (nearly 40). I decided 1st of jan was gonna be it. Well I made it 5 days was so proud and then that stupid nicotine devil said just one. That's was it for me for that day then back on the patches and off I went again! A similar thing happened the next time and now here I am again smoking second day and no strength!I so want to beat this, deep down I know I can but I'm struggling. Please, any advise and support will help me get back on track, I'm s disappointed, why is it so hard!!!

Hey Nic - well done for giving it a go.Each time you try is a breakthrough. You are doing well - dont beat yourself up. We all have weaknesses of one thing or another. None of us are perfect or robotic...Let yourself feel what it is that you need to feel as each time you feel that way it will make you stronger and more determined and you will do it - you will get thru it.I think at times we look for reason why we cant do something - ie we cant give up smoking because of....Instead of looking at the reason we CAN do it because...We each at some point set ourselves up to fail, i believe thats nature - but we have to learn to give ourselves the power. Dont let others drag you down for it either ( there is nothing worse than those idiots who offer you a cigarette hoping you will fail because they cant do it be wary of those type ) Make tomorrow a fresh start - dont stress. Dont set too high expectations on yourself...go with it and it will happen. I beleive you can and will do it..sometimes it just takes some people a little longer to get there.

I agree with yayme! You know what I have found which really helps? Remove yourself from the situation, go into a quiet room where you're all by yourself and play some relaxing music.

That way you have time to yourself with no one else around to add to your emotions that you are feeling at the time and you can acknowledge that yes those cravings are there - but you're not thinking about them... << if that made any sense to you lol

I know these times can get really hard, but you're never alone through this ordeal :)

I have to do this!

WOW - you have only given yourself 2 days to give up. Are you on Champix? I had my first tablet last night,so just starting my journey. I agree with yayme in that everybody is different and nobody can tell you what is right for you. I'm just amazed at the success rate. Remember, it is like a diet, you smoked for years. You can't expect to fix it in a couple of days. Good Luck!!! Rooting for you.
