Strong Cravings

Need some inspiration and advise badly. 80 days today. Feeling very weak and screaming for a smoke but knows that it is very important to remain nicotine free. Very worried that I will relapse again.

Distract yourself! A lot of people get to this point and after all the hard work, cave in and it's all for nought.

The addiction tries to re-claim you often when you least expect.

I am only on smokefree day 10. You have made it to 80! That is fantastic! Find an ashtray full of butts and ash. Look at it and smell it. Imagine they were in your lungs. Remember why you gave up. Read this website. Whatever is going on in your life will still be there. Smoking won't make it go away. Just face up to it as a proud non smoker with self respect rather than a smelly fagger. Courage and best wishes.

are you going to 'relapes' or is it a 'lapse'. very diffrent things. jogg your memory of why you are feeling like this and ask yourself: do i need this? why? can i overcome this feeling? how long will it take? what stratagies can i use to destract myself or what stratagies can i do to help prevent this feeling?

Thank you for your support, it helps so much knowing that we are all here for one another and I got through yesterday just knowing that. Thanks heaps! Day 81 today!!

schedule 6 Sep 2012

Wow! Day 81, you must have such a feeling of self control and accomplishment. I'm only up to day 21, however everyday which passes I am proud of. I really liked the advice that any problems and struggles in life will still be there even if you cave and smoke! I suppose just take everyday one day at a time and stay proud of yourself.

Live_longer, my comment is not original. Ringo Starr used to have a drinking problem. 2 bottles of vodka a day. He rationalized that he needed to driink in order to deal with all of the problems in his life. He managed to quit, and famously said that he still had a lot of problems in his life, but just faced up to them sober rather than drunk.
