Nobody to blame but yourself

I am 65 and have been a heavy smoker for 40 years. For the past 20 years I have 'tried' to quit the habit. You name the method, I have tried it_ patches, acupuncture, smoke-enders, nicobate,hypnotherapy........one method after another.Everytime I failed it was because the method 'didn't work'.Finally I twigged...don't have a method,a crutch, a friend,a programme or any thing else you can blame if you fail..... just go on your own-cold turkey and say to yourself 'I'm on my own, nobody to blame but myself and ,when I quit, nobody to praise but myself. I found quitting so much easier this way,and have been a non-smoker now for 18 months with no desire whatsover to smoke. This is something I thought it would be impossible for me to ever achieve and it feels sooo good!

172 days and saved just under four grand - Like you guys cold turkey was the only way to do it - although writing a few stories on this site has given me the extra momentum needed when I feel tempted - I know I could go back to my couple of packs a day habit without so much as a blink of an eye - but the money is certainly making it a permanent choice for me.
