yay! Getting my life back!!

Ok so I've just joined up and happy to be with like-minded people. I'm on Day 2 of quitting with NRT. All seems to be going ok so far. Last time I quit was about 10 years ago, cold turkey, and I didn't have a cigarette for 5 years.... then just had that ONE!! The patches seem to be making things much easier than last time when I used nothing but willpower :) But I can see already I am going to have to suffer the insomnia for a few weeks....

Hi Dr. feelgood. no, I'm using the 16 hour patch. But I had the same problem when I gave up last time. Couldn't sleep well for about 3 weeks. Think it's all that extra oxygen in my bloodstream :)

Hi Timbara. Your story is what I fear. That after 5 years of not smoking, that voice steps back up and gets you to fold. I guess it proves that we are addicts, and will always need to be on guard against temptation. Just like an alcoholic. Got to remember that I can never have just that one.

My Dad hasn't smoked for about seven years and every now and then he experiences what he calls "the monkey on his back". It's not very often, maybe once or twice a year.

yes so true. We are addicts, and always will be. I guess I have learned from experience anyhow. All the hard work can come undone so easily. I was on a girls day out at the races, and too much to drink.... you know how the story goes. 1 leads to a couple, leads to a packet, and then years of smoking again!!
