31 Days so far so good

Ok so it has been 31 days since I took my last puff of smoke and I am feeling so much better cardio wise, but alas I have started snacking again and have notice a weight gain, this is the most difficult thing to handle. This is where I always fall down and start smoking again. Not really sure what the best way to not start smoking again.

You need to find yourself a new focus. I started going to the Gym and watching what I was eating. This became my new addiction, and I loved it. Dr Feelgood is right, just don't put a cigarette in your mouth EVER AGAIN!! What guarantee is there that you still won't carry the weight even if you did start smoking again?? You have done so well with 31 days smoke free, you really don't want to have to start from day 1 again do you? Stay strong, you will eventually lose the weight and you will do it without smoking. Best of luck!!

Rosey's advice is good ANZAC. A number of us have found that exercising is a new and healthy past-time. At first, it seems difficult to motivate yourself to go to the gym, but once you start you'll get hooked. I pay $13 per week for my gym membership. That's half a pack of smokes per week. Well worth it.
And the Doc is also right ... don;t ever put a cigarette in your mouth again and you are guaranteed not to start smoking again. Put anything in your mouth except for a cigarette. Try a tennis ball, a wrench, a pair of boots, snow skis, a telescope ... anything but a cigarette will work just fine.
One thing at a time. I stopped smoking and took up eating. Sure I've put on some weight but now I'm beginning to get that under control. My philosophy is to do whatever you can to stop smoking. If snacking is what will get you through, then snack away. It's better to be a little heavier for a while than to be a smoker. Just try to snack healthy (even though I haven't!). I'm now 165 days smoke free.

Had a friend tell me she quit ciggies and instead of snacking she bought sugar free lollies to suck whenever she had a craving. Worth a try
