Clean, Sweet & Free of smoke

I moved into an apartment block where my neighbours hated the smoking.  They used to slam their balcony door and close their windows when I was on the balcony.  They were nice people and I didn't like to inconvenience them or make their home unpleasant or make them dislike me.  I avoided having a cigarette.  Then my son was having his tonsils out and I kept him home for a week before the surgery to ensure he didn't contract an infection.  During that time I felt I couldn't possibly smoke around him in case it impacted on his surgery in some way.  He was then home for 2 weeks recovery.  In total... 3 weeks with NO cigarettes.  I have often heard that "a habit can be changed in 3 weeks" and this is proof enough for me.  Now 2 years later I am still cigarette free and now I'm the neighbour who closes my door when the new people downstairs are smoking :-)

Congratulations. You have definitely put smoking into your distant past! I'm only at 127 days and really hope I can make it to the 1 year, 2 year, 5 year, 10 year milestones. In regard to now being the one closing the door on the smokers, it's only when you give up smoking that you realise how stinky it is for everyone else. Smokers are in effect delusional.
