Blood Test results - a wake up call!

Hi, My name is Matt. I am a 26 yr old male who smoked about 15-20 per day. I work pretty long hrs and I used the cigarettes as my excuse to get out the office and take a break.. How Wrong Was I?? This is my new saying when I feel like I want one.
I was feeling generally unwell and went to the Doc, he did blood tests and nothing was crazy different. I went back about 6 days later and asked him to check me for Diabetes as I had had a dry mouth, So So thirsty no matter what or how much I drank, passing urine throught the night too. Anyway, I got tested and Yes its Diabetes. I stopped on the spot of Smoking. I did have one the next day but a slip up either way.
I was using Champix at my 2nd attempt of quitting and really was not ready to quit before the Diabetes. I was a week into Champix and had another week to go before my QUIT DAY.... Bang off them.
Although the Ciggies did not give me Diabetes on their own, the bad diet, smokes, stress, Drinking too much Coke and Genetics means I am about 15 yrs early for stabbing myself with Insulin.. Oh well. ha ha A very good reason to get my butt into Gear.
So anyway, I am fighting the cravings, taking my medication and now have been a non smoker for 10 days. No fast food, No fizzy drinks, and no smokes. Congrats to me. woop woop lol
I already feel better, I am caughing in the mornings but onwrds and upwards. My skin feels better, I have more energy, I am more vibrant, in all getting better...
I would love to chat with people who have given up and are on the way of making their lives better everyday they are a NON - SMOKER.... Keep up the good work people. We are not alone.
Matt

Hi Matt. Like you a doctor's visit was my wake call. 48, heavy smoker and overweight, cholesterol through the roof, blood pressure up. Am expecting my first grandchild and want to be here for bubby! Day 35 for me and am feeling great!

Hey Matt Great to hear about stop smoking just wait till you can smell next doors dinner cooking thats when you feel good ! then you think of all the smell you missed ! Then the breathing starts to get easy & the running even just walkin up stairs even swiming is better and for the diabetes is a condition not a desease ! Treat it right and you are right. I've had it for 15years just be good to your body now it will be good to you testing is a bit of a **** but you get use to it just remember everything is good but just in small ammounts. All the best an I'll keep an eye out for up dates & how you are going if both HIC-ups
See yah JUST ONE DAY AT A TIME
