Well today I hit the six week mark. And what a week and a trial of my resistance to picking up a cigarette it has been. In the early hours of Tuesday my husband woke me to take him to the hospital as he had chest pain. He was taken by ambulance to our local hospital and then transferred to our nearest referral hospital for review due to the pain being unable to be controlled.  He was taken to the cardiac cath lab and had a blockage cleared and a stent inserted.  He had a heart attack at the age of 52.

I was tempted to pick up one of his cigarettes and have it as I was stressed!! But I remembered all the things I have read on this site and how to beat the temptation.  I am proud to say that I have got through the week without smoking. I believe that I am stronger now and will never smoke again.

My husband is doing well and is attempting to go cold turkey to give up the cigarettes but also has the patches if he needs them. So I will support him with his attempt and direct him to this site.

Sorry to hear about your husband. What an awful week you have both had. What a test this was for you, and you have passed with flying colours. Well done Heather. I hope you continue strong on your quit journey and a speedy recovery for your husband back to good health:)

So sorry to hear about your hubby Heather. He's doing well, so that's fantastic. You have done amazingly well to remain smoke free through all this stress. (Way to go). I am 6 weeks tomorrow & I have found it bloody hard. But alot easier than those that I have loved & lost from smoking related diseases. Stay strong. xx
