I survived the first week.....

it has been a long week and a couple of times without even thinking about smoking I almost drove into the supermarket carpark because a split second thought entered my head...'Im out of smokes'.. ! The niggle of ...just having one has entered my mind a couple of time but I have mentally given the thought 'the bird' as suggested by another member.
It is funny now I can smell a smoker I didnt even know smoked and I am enjoying the taste of food a little too much....maybe beacause now I have an appetite where as before a smoke seemed to satisfy me or so I thought.
Any way now its onwards and upwards to conquer week 2
Stay strong peeps!

well done bjn,
Yeap it is funny how your senses are so much sharper, and smelling smoke on some-one is really horrible. It has it's own hot dry smell "yuk" and to think we smelt like that once..
The taste buds have also come alive, all food have there own individual smell, not like before spicey, garlic and the rest. Good for us all we are giving up at this time of year , all the summer fruit and vegies are just the best.
Anyway all the very best , stay strong xoxoxox

well done bjn, im only a few days behind you then my week is up. reading what you are going through gives me the heads up.. i went to the supermarket today and my auto pilot kicked in and went to the smokes department. i got to the counter and the worker asked what i would like... i stood there and confidently said. NOTHING. and walked out.. i didnt realise i was there till i got spoke to, but i walked out smoke free... good for you surviving the first week, it makes you think why you smoked in the first place when you feel so much better only a after a week :)

Good work BJN. Getting through the first week is a big achievement. The more of these milestones you reach, the more determined you become to not throw it all away for a momentary craving. I found myself doing the same sort of things, driving along and just reaching across for the pack of smokes that wasn't there anymore. Those auto reactions are gone from me now after 42 days. I do still get the occasional feeling that I would like a smoke, but like you said, give those thoughts the bird and they're gone. You're doing really well bjn. keep up the great effort!
