I'm up to day 51 and have been doing great..I think I got my head right over a fair amount of time leading up to when I stopped, so I used lozenges for a week and half, and have made it to 51 days with not too many dramas. I have been exercising, eating better and really starting to notice that I feel and look way better now than when I smoked. I have money in my wallet to splurge on me and the kids instead of having to stress about saving so I have enough for cigs. I smell great, I don't wheeze or snore anymore and I can chase the kids round at the park. For the first time in my adult life I am paying someone for the pleasure of poisoning myself.

My Dad smoked since well before I was born. Dad died of lung cancer 10 years ago, when I was 22 and my eldest daughter was 1. Tomorrow he would have been 60.

For some reason, despite the very strong motivation I have to realise why I should not smoke, and despite my real live experience of the worst outcomes of smoking, in the last day or 2, when I've already made it 51 days of not smoking, and  I am hating the smell, and loving the benefits, I have this stupid little (well not so little..every 5 min or so) voice niggling at me about having a smoke.

I will not cave but this is p***ing me off. Enough already. How long does it take to really be a non smoker??

Wow! day 51. That is awesome kdv. You are a non smoker & well done to you! Tomorrow is a sentimental day for you, your dad's 60th. Don't give in, your dad will be so proud. I have read on here that the day 50's are the worst. So hang in there. You can do it. ♥

Hey there Kdv don't give up. Just remember your are stronger then that cigarette, dont let them take hold of you, just remember what's in your wallet. And remember your doing this for you and your health.

kdv you are not alone on this road!

I'm day 56 and yeap i get these stupid thoughts like " just drive to the servo and buy a pack, just have one" ..Im like what on earth is this all about.

Until now it's been pretty smooth sailing, But honestly something changes about day 50, You get these really strong thoughts and your head seems to be constantly filled with them. It's insane.

Yeap and really pi$$ing me off as well.

It look like you, NowaNonSmoker and me are at the same place and going through the same crap.

So lets just say this is a normal process.

Lets stay super strong, and be super focused and stick together, cos we know we can do this :)

Wow Kdv, you are doing an excellent job, exercising, eating well and giving up smoking. My dad gave up 40 years ago and says to me occasionally (very occasionally) that he just felt like having a cigarette (mostly after a meal). I guess we might be stuck with this thought popping into our heads forever but at least, as you said, we will be able to breathe freely and reap the many other benefits from not smoking. You are amazing for doing as well as you are. WELL DONE!

I must say though, you people in day 50s are scaring me a little, but hey if you can do the hard yards then so can I.

Have a great smoke free day everybody.

Thanks for the warning about day 50's. It helps to be prepared and we can do that via this forum.

I am at day 39 and love all the milestones. Day 1, day 7, day 14, 0ne month etc, etc.

It is still early morning but the cig devil has tried to tempt me already a few times this morning but I just tell him I am not interested and to go away.

And I thought it was just me having strange "Just have one" thoughts around day 50. Obviously I was wrong. 50 days is a great start kdv. Hang on in there & remember that most of us are having the same thoughts. I'm day 55 & have had the urge to sneak a quick one in the last few days. That will not be happening. Keep up the great work. The frustration will soon be a distant memory.

thanks everyone! Voice is now gone, back to feeling calm relaxed and very proud of being a non smoker. Guess it's the mind's last ditch effort to hang on to the habit.

Good luck wangiboy, keep it up and we'll see you in the 50's soon :)
