Hi, thought I would post my experience so it may help others.  female 53 years old, smoked since I was 14 or so with lots of breaks in between. Absolutely sick of feeling so lousy in the mornings, tight in the chest and having smoking control my day to day life, not to mention the cost.I honestly didn't think I could stop as it had become so huge a part of my day to day life...you all know what I mean, I actually enjoyed the sensation and the act of smoking, especially with a cappucino, one of the pleasures of life. Woke up one Sunday morning and thought stuff this, I felt like crap so decided to stay in bed till about 12, no need to get up, everyone was busy. Finally got up and had a shower, realised it was 12 hours since last cig so thought that's it. Threw the last few in the packet in bin and went back to bed to watch tv. Bed was one place I couldn't smoke so I felt a strange sense of security. Plus the fact i had not planned to quit and decided on the spot kind of felt I had tricked the smoking demon. I didn't tell anyone either as I hadn't planned to quit so I am pleased I didn't, nothing worse than everyone banging on about it. ANYWAY... it's day 21 and it has been easier than I thought, some pretty strong urges to smoke but they pass. Just in the last few days the urge has been strong but I feel so much better, chest discomfort has almost gone, not coughing or clearing my throat all the time, back to the gym in a big way the past week, have been eating heaps but a kilo or so extra is no big deal. Oh and I used to get rotten head aches several times a week, they have gone to. You can do it, making the decision to quit on the spot, specially on a day where you can stay in bed worked for me....GOOD LUCK xxx

Good job to you too. After day 5, all those vile chemicals have left your body, you need to do something with your hands and mouth, oral fixation apparently, so suck on lollipops and get some eucalyptus oil and take a great big sniff of that when urge to smoke strikes. It gives you that burn in your nasal passages and throat that is what we ex smokers crave so I have been told. Makes sense try it, keep it up, you CAN do it. xx
