As a smoker for over 35 yrs I think its time to quit,  but one thing that makes it hard for me is all the QUIT ADVERTISMENTS on T.V and Radio. When i see these or hear these i get the urge to have a smoke

Does this happen to others

Hi Nightowl yes when i used to c the ads on tv i used to say yeh yeh then go and have a smoke. Not any more the ad on tv where they show them putting the cigarette in the bubble wrap saying how it damages your lungs etc that ad helped me make my mind up to quit. Ive been smoke free for almost 6 weeks yeh its been a hard trip but well worth it.Yeh i miss them but i have more positives than negatives about not smoking. Its a lot of will power and there is always plenty of advice on here to help u on your journey to quitting.Good luck

Hi, my quit date is 13th Jan... getting closer and I;m getting anxious and excited about the whole experience _ I have to be confident that I can do it for good this time. Nightowl 35yrs is a long time, I've been smoking 30 yrs - I dont want to smoke any more and yes I just seen an ad on TV and went outside and had a cigarette? Good luck to all.

i watched several family members get sick with cancer so they actually scared me, i think seeing it first hand gave me a different perpective of it so i actually felt worried even though i wanted the ciggerette, maybe do what i did and change the channell when they come on. dont be fooled, they are talking about really serious inllnesses that we can all get if we still smoke, take care mate and good luck

Thats ironic as my father said to me the other week how stupid I was as every time an ad came on tv (anti smoking ad) I would go outside for a cigarette..

I didn't realise I was doing that, but I guess every smoker is aware of these adds but smokers seem to block out the real anti smoking message and just think about a cigarette.
