4th day and still smoke free!!

Hi - I have been a regular smoker for over 45 years with previous attempts to quit, failing after 1 or 2 days..... but using Nicotinell patches since Jan 1st I have been smoke free for 3 days .....and feeling very pleased with few cravings, so far.....

Alcohol and that first coffee in mornings are triggers for me, so alcohol is off my menu for awhile...

I also made a list of all my friends/family/acqaintences etc....that do NOT smoke ... and I refer to the list when ever I get cravings or hard times and this somehow seems to reinforce my  OWN reason to quit.... plus the expense of ciggies is another reminder for me to quit for GOOD too !!!

So it is one day at a time for me.

I wish all those that use this site all the best ...remember quitters are winners, in more ways than one.

Hi 1day@a_time im also using the Nicotinell patches and found they are very good.Like you i enjoyed my morning smoke with my coffee and thought no way can i stop that one.But i did i always put a fresh patch on about 6pm every night so there are no cravings when i wake up.I have been smoke free for just over a month and yeh i still get cravings dont last long. i can be around smokers and not strangle them for just 1 smoke lol.I remind myself why i stopped better health and the huge amount of $$$$$ that i will be saving.Hang in there it does get better and easier and as u said "Quitters are winners"
