Day 2

I'v been a smoker on and off for 40 years. I've quit several times. I'm having another go, and I'm on Day 2....

My partner is still smoking, and feels threatened by my quitting. He tried to pick a fight first thing this morning, and lit up beside me before I was even out of bed... not very supportive eh?

I'm practising the thought "I have the right to choose to be a non-smoker, regardless of how it affects others around me". The patches are a big help with cravings so far, and I am proud to have not given in to them today. Went for an early morning walk, bought lots of fruit to eat, and I'm drinking water. Wish me luck!

You know what? He seems like a complete jerk!

I would support my partner in whatever he was doing, especially if it concerns their health!

I would say keep distracting myself, my choice are video games and trying to find a part-time job :)

Good luck Annie, my partner smokes too, but she's agreed to support me with my choice to give up, and who knows, it may inspire her to do the same.

I remember when I was a smoker, and one of my friends would come over and tell me they had quit smoking.. I was so envious, that they did something I could not bring myself to do - and I would light up another one right in front of them. I think I did it as the upside to not quitting is that you can make yourself feel better about your weakness by being able to have a smoke! Stay stong, I'm sure your strength will encourage your partner to pursue a healthier lifestyle too. Sucks he smokes in front of you though, talk about making it harder.
