First Day - Help is there if you need it!
Day 1 - I decided recently it was time to quit smoking once and for all ( I have tried three times before) for the obvious health and fitness reasons but also because my husband and I are planning to start a family in about 12 months time. Given my previous attempts at doing this on my own had not proven successful, I had vistied my Doctor and called quit line to get some expert advice. Feeling confident with my plan I set my quit date and got my patches so I was prepared for my quit date. I had arranged for the Quit Line to give me a follow up call on my first day but I overslept and missed the call! Today is a busy day at work and running late was not part of my plan, I felt anxious and worried I was going to be late, not to mentoin it was normally the time I would have my moring ciggie. I called the quit line while I was walking to work and I am glad I did! The advisor I spoke to was lovely and helped me calm myslef down an "Relax" concnetrate on what I was doing to destract me from the desire to smoke. Less than five minutes later I was calm and could get on with my day without feeling stressed out. I have thought about the fact that I have not had a ciggerete but am not cimbing the walls! I dont doubt I will be tested again in my journey to quit - but all I need to do is pick up the phone!
