22 days..... What is the problem? This is easy....

OK so it's not easy. But as the adds say, "not quitting is harder".

There are some pretty sad stories of what smoking can do to you out there at any age. I know I was only fooling myself thinking it wasn't hurting me, 'I'm tough', 'I can still run and work hard', 'I've stopped before for ages', 'I can quit it when I need to....'

Nope, that's all crap. I did not really stop last time, I just didn't smoke for a while, I really was hurting myself and making excuses for it.

How stupid is that? Long term self harm and accepting it! If someone was jabbing me with a knife I'd stop them, I'd fight. But smoking?? I was self inflicting that harm! Just doesn't make sense??

End it now! Quit now! Later will be too late! I am a NON-SMOKER! These are the new mantra's.

All in all though not too bad so far. The cravings are much less frequent now and more like a small pain in the butt. Not like the ones when one side of my brain was trying to convince me that "just one will be OK"...

I can brush the cravings aside much more easily now. I refuse point blank to let them win. They are the enemy!

I am now exercising heaps. Weights and Cardio. Managed to loose weight, 2.5kg in the last week, I am pretty happy about that.

My skin, breathing and even my eyesight seem better.

To everyone out there, thank you for the support. I love the comments and reading your stories.

Between the quit and the exercise, I am 43 and almost back at my fighting weight when I was 20, and I am beating the time limit by 8min on a thing called the arduous pack test, (carry 20kg for 4.8km in 45min).

Could not have got this far by myself, love this site and the hints, tips etc. And of course my much suffering wife and friends who have put up with me. :)

Cheers and best of luck to you all....

Hi JO, seems like that 10-14 day period is a beast! Keep going though, once you get by it does get easier to smack the cravings. Every one you beat is a huge win!
