Champix

I'm on day 8 without cigarettes and it's all a bit bittersweet. I'm proud of myself, I've managed to get through some pretty difficult situations without even having a drag (including drinks with 2 chain smokers). I don't think I could have made it through the first three days without champix.
I'm now starting to feel like I could continue as a non smoker without champix, which is a tempting thought as I'm sick of feeling nauseous every day. The nausea only started once I began to take the full strength champix tablets, and before that I kept getting angry for no reason. The anger has slowly subsided.
I need to remember that the 95% success rate applies only to those who complete the full 12 weeks of champix and that the nausea I keep experiencing is not in vain. It's just that damn thought that keeps nagging me; "the hard part is over, you can get through the rest on your own".
My biggest concern is the effect the side effects are having on my studies. I'm falling a bit behind and it's hard to catch up when you feel like vomiting. I suppose this is punishment for smoking for almost 40% of my life (I'm almost 23 and started smoking when I was 14). I guess poor lung function wasn't bad enough.
I like that I'm doing something positive for the environment for a change. I'm not just cutting down on the pollution I cause from smoking, I'm stopping it completely! This probably is in vain though, I'm into cars.
Nausea isn't so bad right now so I'm gonna get back to my assignment. Wish me luck!

Wow - good on you for already getting through a social smoking situation without having one! I quit 2 weeks ago and have so far avoided catching up with friends who smoke for this reason - but when I am feeling a bit more confident I will bite the bullet! Keep up the good work :)

Well it's been over a year since my last quit attempt. Had to stop taking champix, it caused too many problems. Especially the constant rage! I'm surprised my boyfriend didn't dump me. Thinking about giving zyban another try.
